Superyacht Fiscal 2016 Programme

Print icon Superyacht Fiscal was an instructional day of seminars and panel debates. The event took place on 26 April 2016, in the Spanish superyacht hub of Barcelona.

Lawyers, advisors, government officials, customs officers and other key individuals participated in an insightful series of discussions and panel debates. The content of the day ensured those in attendance left with a comprehensive knowledge of how to operate in Spain, from a legal, operational and fiscal standpoint

The programme for the 2016 event was as follows:

10:00 – 10:45   Registration

10:45 – 11:00   Opening Address

11:00 – 12:00   Spanish Tax Treatment of Superyachts: How to operate legally and fiscally in Spain.

The opening session will provide a comprehensive overview of the situation in Spain for superyachts, including recent reforms to the Spanish Matriculation Tax. An informative presentation, this panel debate will set the tone for the day's discussions and seminars.

12:00 – 12:30   Coffee Break

12:30 – 13:30   EU vs Non EU Flags / Commercial vs Private – How will the authorities treat you?
A panel of experts will lead a compelling debate discussing issues and concerns from both EU / Non-EU flagged vessels and commercial / private vessels operating in Spanish waters. Is the standardisation of security measures a realistic aim for the superyacht industry? How can government agencies, owner advisors and superyacht crew work together to ensure a smooth process for all?

13:30 – 15:00   Networking Lunch

15:00 – 16:00   Port State Control, Berthing, Customs & the Authorities – What will happen in Spain?
Reconvening after lunch, this seminar will feature captains, experts and industry representatives discussing how yachts can best navigate port state control, berthing, customs and the Spanish authorities.

16:00 – 16:30   Tea Break

16:30 – 17:30   To charter or not to charter in Spain, that is the question. An open debate with Spanish industry experts.
The final session will feature industry professionals looking at issues raised throughout the day. This will answer the pertinent question: "What is required of a superyacht operating in Spain?" ahead of the summer chartering season.

The day concluded with private networking drinks at the stunning OneOcean Bar, hosted by
 networking drinks partner, OneOcean Port Vell.

19:30 – 22:00    Seated dinner at Barceloneta Restaurant
A VIP dinner was held Barceloneta Restaurant, conveniently located next to the drinks reception and over looking OneOcean Port Vell.
